Built on the site of the old Hendon Greyhound Stadium in 1976 Brent Cross Shopping Centre was the first large scale indoor mall to be built in the UK. Soon becoming popular for its late night shopping and clean environment with top brand stores and extensive parking Brent Cross was soon dubbed North Londons West End. Over the years the shopping
centre has been expanded and now has over 110 stores under the single roof and included a covered park along side the original open air car parks. Moving with the times the
centre became a no-smoking zone in January 2002 with smoking areas limited to a single section of the
centre on an upper floor.
The pictures below were taken during the Christmas shopping run-up
and so show the centre with its festive decorations which are not
displayed for the rest of the year.
Brent Cross Shopping centre is located just off from Junction 1 of
the M1 motorway and is at the intersection the A40 Hendon Way and
the A406 North Circular Road.
